Job summary

The University of South Florida is seeking an in-person Robotics Engineering Internship for Fall 2026. The role supports DoD-funded programs and requires US citizenship and eligibility for a security clearance.

You will work with DefenseWERX to design and test robotic equipment, conduct related research, and engage with experts. Hours are 15–29 per week during school terms, with paid rate of $18.50/hour.

Qualifications

• Citizen of the United States required for eligibility.
• Must be eligible to obtain a U.S. security clearance due to DoD program requirements.
• Actively pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or Physics.
• Junior or Senior level with GPA 3.0+.
• Experience with creating Arduino circuits.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; Excel, Word, PowerPoint is a plus.
• Familiarity with Linux, Android, Mac OS X or Ubuntu software is desired.
• Willingness to learn/test with engineering test equipment.

Responsibilities

• Design, prototype, and test robotic equipment with DefenseWERX.
• Assist with researching related technology topics.
• Consult with subject matter experts.
• Participate in weekly market research and submit entries for new capabilities.
