Job summary

OctaPulse is building the data and robotics layer for seafood production, combining computer vision and robots for fish farms and processing lines. You will be one of the first robotics hires, owning robot learning end to end and collaborating closely with mechanical design.

This on-site role is in Dallas (Frisco area) with 20–25% travel to farms and processing sites to test and observe the robots in real work environments.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to teach a robot a manipulation task and run it on real hardware (not just simulation).
• Strong in Python and capable of reading/patching research code.
• Rigorous about evaluation: count trials, log failures, and distrust a single good video.
• Comfort working with real hardware: calibration, cabling and things that come loose.
• Collaborative with mechanical design and comfortable assessing whether failures stem from data, learning, or hardware.

Responsibilities

• Build reliable, gentle robot handling and move toward a measured success rate in real plants.
• Make data collection and calibration into infrastructure so new tasks start faster.
• Contribute to longer-horizon work on more capable robots and real-world deployment in food plants.
