About the Opportunity
We are partnering with a well-established, global manufacturer of highly engineered products used across aerospace, automotive, energy, medical, and other advanced industrial markets. The company combines the resources and stability of a large global organization with the flexibility to invest in new technology, automation, and manufacturing improvements.
We are seeking a hands‑on Automation & Robotics Engineer who enjoys designing, programming, and implementing automation solutions in a manufacturing environment.
This is an opportunity to take ownership of meaningful automation projects, working with industrial robots, collaborative robots (cobots), PLCs, machine vision, motion control, and HMI/SCADA systems.
The organization is actively investing in automation and looking for an engineer who can help expand its capabilities while improving existing manufacturing processes.
This is not simply a maintenance or troubleshooting position. We are looking for someone who enjoys engineering solutions, integrating equipment, and seeing projects through from concept to implementation.
What You’ll Do
- Design, program, integrate, and optimize industrial automation systems for manufacturing operations.
- Develop and modify PLC programs, including ladder logic, machine sequencing, and automated equipment controls.
- Integrate industrial robots and collaborative robots with PLCs, sensors, machine vision systems, and production equipment.
- Work with machine vision systems for inspection, part identification, quality control, and automated processes.
- Develop and support HMI/SCADA applications for equipment monitoring, process control, and production visibility.
- Integrate motion control systems, servo drives, VFDs, motors, and other automated equipment components.
- Lead automation projects from initial concept and equipment selection through programming, commissioning, and implementation.
- Troubleshoot and improve existing automated equipment while identifying opportunities to increase throughput, reliability, and efficiency.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, maintenance, and quality teams to develop practical automation solutions.
- Support equipment connectivity, manufacturing data collection, and Industry 4.0 initiatives.
What We’re Looking For
- 3+ years of hands‑on experience in industrial automation, controls engineering, robotics, or a related engineering discipline. More experienced engineers are encouraged to apply.
- Strong PLC programming experience, including ladder logic, with platforms such as Siemens, Allen‑Bradley/Rockwell, Omron, or similar.
- Experience with industrial robotics, collaborative robots, or robotic system integration.
- Working knowledge of machine vision systems, such as Cognex, Keyence, or comparable technologies.
- Experience with motion control, servo systems, VFDs, or automated machine controls.
- Experience developing, modifying, or integrating HMI/SCADA systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot and integrate electrical, mechanical, and control systems in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to independently manage technical projects.
- Engineering degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Manufacturing, or a related discipline preferred. Equivalent practical engineering experience will be considered.
Additional Experience That Would Be Valuable
- Fanuc, Universal Robots, ABB, or other industrial robotic platforms.
- Siemens TIA Portal, WinCC, Studio 5000, FactoryTalk, Ignition, or AVEVA.
- Machine vision programming, inspection systems, and vision‑guided robotics.
- Industrial communication protocols such as Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus, or OPC UA.
- Experience designing control panels, electrical schematics, or automated machine systems.
- Experience with CNC equipment, automated manufacturing cells, or discrete manufacturing processes.
- Manufacturing data integration, IIoT, or smart manufacturing initiatives.
Why Consider This Opportunity?
- Opportunity to build: Take an active role in developing and implementing new automation solutions rather than simply maintaining existing equipment.
- Investment in technology: Join an organization committed to expanding its automation and robotics capabilities.
- Real engineering ownership: Work across PLC programming, robotics, vision systems, motion control, and equipment integration.
- Visible impact: Your work will directly influence manufacturing performance, equipment reliability, and production efficiency.
- Long‑term stability: Join an established global manufacturing organization with the resources to support continued investment and growth.
- Relocation available: Qualified candidates outside Houston are encouraged to apply.
Location: Houston, TX — On‑site manufacturing engineering position.
Work Authorization: Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer‑sponsored visa assistance. Visa sponsorship is not available.
If you enjoy hands‑on engineering, solving complex automation challenges, and having the freedom to turn ideas into working manufacturing solutions, we would welcome the opportunity to speak with you.
