Job summary

Kelly Engineering seeks a Mechanical Assembler in South San Francisco to join a growing team building construction robots and heavy‑duty equipment. You will read blueprints, assemble mechanical and electro‑mechanical components, and verify tolerances using precision tools.

The role requires hands‑on problem‑solving, attention to detail, and the ability to lift 25–50 lbs in a fast‑paced manufacturing setting. This is a full‑time, on‑site position with potential for temp‑to‑hire.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of mechanical assembly experience, preferably involving manufacturing, heavy equipment, robotics, or electro‑mechanical products.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and hands‑on problem‑solving ability.
• Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, and basic measurement equipment.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints, technical drawings, and assembly instructions.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to stand, bend, reach, and lift 25–50 lbs. as needed.
• Comfortable working in a hands‑on, fast‑paced manufacturing/shop environment.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Assemble mechanical and electro‑mechanical components including frames, brackets, panels, and actuators.
• Work from blueprints, assembly drawings, schematics, and written work instructions.
• Use hand and power tools to assemble, fasten, position, and adjust components.
• Measure components and verify fit, alignment, and tolerances using calipers, gauges, and other measurement tools.
• Install and route cables, hoses, and basic wire harnesses.
• Perform basic functional checks on completed assemblies and record results.
• Safely move and position larger components using appropriate lifting equipment.
• Keep the assembly area organized, clean, and ready for production.
• Track parts and communicate inventory needs to the appropriate team.
• Follow required safety procedures and report potential hazards.
• Identify opportunities to improve assembly processes, quality, and efficiency.
