Job summary

Generalist is seeking a robotics software engineer to own the software controlling our robots. You will collaborate with ML to translate output intentions into safe, efficient, and responsive actions across multiple embodiments.

You will partner with hardware teams to ensure system dynamics and components operate optimally. The role emphasizes real-time control from firmware to high-level input specifications, ownership of diverse robot platforms, and delivering production-ready code with

Qualifications

Extensive experience in rigid body kinematics and robotic controls.
Experience bringing robots into production environments with stringent reliability requirements.
Proficiency in high-performance, production-ready Python and C++.
Familiarity with kinematics/simulation libraries.
Experience with robotic middleware platforms such as ROS/ROS2/ZCM.
Candidates often have 5+ years experience, sometimes with a PhD.

Responsibilities

Design, implement, and test the real-time control system from the firmware to the per-embodiment input specifications.
Own a variety of robot embodiments from stock co-bot arms to custom hardware.
Collaborate with ML, hardware, and partners to ensure system dynamics and components behave optimally.
