Job summary

Livonia Public Schools seeks a dedicated supervisor for the high school robotics team Tyros (FRC 6861) within the District-wide Robotics Program. The role includes overseeing applications, coordinating mentors, managing budgets, and guiding students during construction and competitions.

Evening and weekend sessions are common, with travel to area tournaments. Strong communication and organizational skills, plus the ability to engage stakeholders, are essential.

Qualifications

• Strong communication & organizational skills.
• Evidence of ability to establish positive working relationships with all stakeholders.
• First Robotics experience preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Create a welcoming and positive Robotics team climate and culture.
• Exhibit a commitment to the District's Shared Vision and Collective Commitments.
• Nurture a sense of ownership among team members for their team's robot project.
• Process student applications and permission slips, supervise and coordinate the work of business mentors, establish and work within a budget.
• Submit approved rosters at district, state, and/or world competitions.
• Coordinate with adult team mentors/parent volunteers, students, and program colleagues to successfully complete team robot, prepare for competition, and compete in area tournaments.
• Supervise students during off-site trips, competitions, etc.
• Organize logistics and dispatch trailers for each competition.
• Encourage students to think independently and to express original ideas.
• Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to provide a safe and productive team environment.
• Follow all First Robotics protocols, as well as all safety rules and guidelines.
• Communicate with students, parents, program colleagues, and school administrators on team progress.
• Execute other duties and assume other responsibilities as assigned.
