Cristo Rey Jesuit High School Milwaukee is seeking a part-time Robotics Co-Coach for its 2026 FIRST Robotics Team. Work with the Director of Innovation to design, build, and practice a competition robot at the Milwaukee Robotics Academy.

Responsibilities include leading after-school sessions, coordinating with families, completing Safe Environment training, and preparing for competitions and year-end events. The season runs through spring with several weekend sessions.

Qualifications

  • Effective communicator and project manager.
  • Experience with power and hand tools.
  • Flexibility and adaptability.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred.
  • Basic computer programming skills, teaching experience, and/or Spanish language skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Complete Archdiocese Safe Environment training and become an approved van driver.
  • Attend launch day event on Jan 10, 2026 (9am-4pm).
  • Lead one weekday evening coaching session (3:30-7pm) per week.
  • Lead one Saturday build session (8:30am-3pm) per month.
  • Co-coach with at least one other coach for City Champs scrimmage and district events.
  • Help prepare for and attend year-end banquet.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The FIRST Robotics Team Co-coaches will work closely with the Director of Innovation and Innovation Lab Coordinator to help students design, build, and practice with a robot that can compete in the 2026 FIRST robotics competitions. The season consists of a few days before winter break (12/8-12/11), and then from January 10 through April 2nd. All build sessions will take place at the Milwaukee Robotics Academy (MRA), located at 3063 N Fratney St in Milwaukee.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Attend as many parent meetings as you’re able to build community and share information with families. These meetings will be organized and run by the CRJ Innovation staff.
  • Complete the Archdiocese Safe Environment training and become an approved van driver for CRJ Milwaukee.
  • Attend the launch day event on January 10, 2026 (approximately 9am-4pm)
  • Take the lead in coaching one weekday evening (3:30-7pm) per week and assist with additional drop-in support when feasible.
  • Take the lead in coaching one Saturday build session (8:30am-3pm) per month, with additional drop-in support when feasible.
  • Take the lead in coaching — with at least one other Co-coach — for the City Champs scrimmage (Tentatively scheduled for 2/21) and one of the two district events (March 20-22 in Appleton or March 27-29 in Mukwonago).
  • Help prepare for and attend the year-end banquet in late April or early May.

  • Sensitivity to the ethnic, racial, and religious backgrounds of the student body
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Innovation
