Job summary

Job Description

In this full-time, 10-month position, the Dean of Student Support will model dedication to developing the whole student in academics, spiritual growth, and work readiness. You will serve as a key member of the student support team and help guide the school to educate students to become leaders and people "for and with others." You will provide leadership and supervision of faculty and staff in collaboration with the Principal to ensure that the school delivers on its promised mission to provide each student with a rigorous college preparation in the Jesuit tradition through outstanding teaching and personal formation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Academic Leadership:
    • Collaborate with the Principal, Assistant Principals, and faculty to identify students facing academic challenges and develop tailored intervention strategies.
    • Oversee the development and implementation of academic support programs, including tutoring, study skills workshops, and other resources to enhance student learning.
    • Assist in the leadership of the Student Support Team to review documentation and create individualized accommodation plans for students struggling with academic success.
    • Work with the Principal to oversee and administer Title funding; including meeting with the approved Title vendor, creating the yearly needs assessment, and oversee all Title teachers working within the school.
  • Student Support:
    • Work closely with students with diagnosed learning differences, their parents, and teachers to implement appropriate adjustments and monitor progress.
    • Serve as a liaison between parents and evaluators for students undergoing assessment for learning differences.
    • Coordinate with external agencies and professionals to provide comprehensive support services to students.
    • Ensure that students placed on support plans meet their goals and make adequate progress throughout the school year.
  • Faculty Collaboration and Development:
    • Provide guidance and professional development to faculty on best practices for supporting students who are struggling academically.
    • Collaborate with faculty to integrate effective instructional strategies that accommodate various learning needs.
  • Program Management:
    • Collect and analyze data to assess the effectiveness of academic support programs and make data-driven decisions for continuous improvement.
    • Supervise intervention teachers, tutors, and volunteers providing academic support.
    • Coordinate team teaching, push in support, and pull out tutoring with classroom teachers and school administrators.
    • Ensure compliance with standardized testing accommodations and serve as the Services for Students with Disabilities coordinator for exams such as the PSAT, SAT, ACT, and AP tests.
  • Community Engagement:
    • Communicate effectively with parents regarding their child's progress and the school's learning plans.
    • Offer workshops and sessions to develop students' learning skills and inform parents about supporting their children's academic development.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Special Education, School Counseling or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • Experience in Catholic or Jesuit education is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience working with diverse student populations and managing academic support programs.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with individuals from varied cultural and educational backgrounds.
  • Proficiency in educational technology applications, including student information systems and adaptive learning tools.
Working Environment

This position requires frequent interaction with students, parents, and faculty. It may involve prolonged periods of standing, sitting, and occasional light lifting. The role demands a high level of adaptability and a commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive educational environment.
