Job summary

General Motors is seeking an Automation Project Engineer to develop, support, and optimize robotic applications plantwide (Body, Paint, GA). You will lead installations, troubleshoot issues, and drive continuous improvements aligned with GM Global Standards.

Expect collaboration with production, maintenance, and engineering teams in a fast-paced plant environment. The role requires 5+ years in automation/robotics, a relevant bachelor's degree, and hands-on Fanuc vision sensor experience.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in automation controls/robotics in manufacturing.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Computer Science, or related field; or equivalent experience.
• Strong technical knowledge with robotics and automation systems in manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve robotic system issues across plant.
• Lead robotic projects: new installations, enhancements, and repairs.
• Ensure compliance with GM Global Standards for robotic applications.
• Develop procedures for robotic recovery, maintenance, and optimization.
• Provide technical direction to vendors and integrators as needed.
• Support plant automation systems including startup, reprogramming, diagnostics.
• Assist in project management with robotics execution teams.
• Analyze manufacturing requirements to design effective robotic solutions.
• Participate in business plan deployment and throughput improvement.
