Job summary

General Motors seeks a Manufacturing Execution Engineer GA for ME Optimization to lead cross‑functional optimization projects across assembly sites. You will design, build and commission advanced automation in GM vehicle assembly plants and drive lean processes across the enterprise.

You will maximize efficiency with skilled personnel, materials, and equipment, guiding projects from ideation to installation, while maintaining budget targets and clear status reporting. Hybrid work model applies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience.
• 3+ years of experience supporting manufacturing launches.
• Ability to work independently and escalate when required.
• Strong cross‑functional collaboration across plants and central teams.
• Data management, analysis, presentation and problem solving skills.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% domestically and internationally.
• Experience with manufacturing tooling and automation.

Responsibilities

• Define change areas including tooling, automation and facilities.
• Analyze material flow and future‑state material movement strategies.
• Deploy common tooling, processes and standards across departments and enterprise.
• Provide technical direction to vendors and internal teams.
• Lead design, installation, and continuous improvement of equipment and tooling.
• Coordinate automation projects and plant integration.
• Track project validation metrics and performance through design capability and throughput standards.
• Support plant launches and provide on‑site engineering leadership.
• Manage project scope, budget, and status reports.
• Interface with plant operations for build support and BOM accuracy.
