Job summary

Wabash in Lafayette, IN seeks a Robotics Automation Engineer to provide engineering leadership for manufacturing robotics, test new technologies, and deploy on-site robotics in collaboration with maintenance and production teams.

You will establish best practices, specify robotic applications, and mentor staff while coordinating external contractors. Preference for a Bachelor's degree and 2+ years' experience with Kawasaki or Fanuc robots.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 2+ years' experience with Kawasaki and/or Fanuc robotics.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient data analysis skills and ability to report data to management.
• Knowledge of mechanical and electrical maintenance processes and machine reliability.
• Troubleshooting experience in an engineering role.

Responsibilities

• SME for Fanuc and Kawasaki Robotics, providing engineering, programming, service, training, support and vendor supervision.
• Support the development of Engineering Best Practices and Engineering Standards for robotic application development.
• Participate in cross-functional teams within manufacturing, quality, and other business units when developing new robotic applications.
• Develop capabilities in robotics and PLC programming to troubleshoot design/functional issues.
• Support the deployment of robotic technologies by working in multi-disciplinary teams.
• Be a champion for safety, compliance, and quality best practices in robotic applications.
• Provide technical mentoring to controls engineers and serve as Peer Coach to new engineers and technicians.
• Provide oversight of supplier, contract, and site resources in robotic deployments.
• Determine/modify PM plans for robotic equipment.
• Budget for and coordinate vendor work for maintaining robotic equipment.
• Provide support on equipment breakdowns.
• Develop improvement initiatives to reduce breakdowns and repair time.
• Identify training to improve craft skill levels.
• Refine PPM routines and analyze downtime to improve schedules.
• Other duties as assigned
