Job summary

Scion Technology is seeking an experienced Technical Engineering Manager (Physical AI) in the Boston area. This full-time, direct-hire role offers a hybrid schedule in North Reading, MA and leads a team building AI-enabled robotics capabilities.

You will guide initiatives from early development through production, balance innovation with reliability and cost, and mentor a team of AI/robotics engineers while collaborating across functions to deliver deployed solutions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in software engineering, robotics, AI/ML
• Strong robotic perception and AI in physical environments
• Experience with simulation environments for robotics development
• Knowledge of multimodal AI for robotics
• Experience taking concepts to production and supporting field deployments

Responsibilities

• Own initiatives from definition to deployment
• Set direction for robotic perception, localization, mapping, and AI capabilities
• Guide ML integration into production robotics
• Evaluate technologies and make architecture decisions
• Manage and develop an AI/robotics engineering team
• Promote engineering practices and ownership
• Establish priorities, milestones, resources, and risk plans
• Ensure reliability in industrial environments and incorporate field feedback
