Job summary

Field AI in Irvine, CA is seeking a Robotics AI Engineer to advance sensor calibration for our autonomous robots. You will work on calibration pipelines across LiDAR, cameras, and IMU, enabling robust perception and reliable navigation.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of work experience as a robotics software engineer with robotics, computer vision and sensor calibration expertise.
  • Proficiency in C++ and Python with maintainable code skills.
  • Solid background in 3D geometry and computer vision.
  • Knowledge of sensor calibration techniques (camera intrinsic, LiDAR-Camera, multi-sensor extrinsic).
  • Hands-on experience with sensor data processing tools like PCL, Open3D, OpenCV, Kalibr.
  • Familiarity with ROS and Ubuntu.
  • Familiarity with Ceres, GTSAM, g2o.
  • Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, ability to work independently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and refine sensor calibration workflows for LiDAR, cameras, and IMUs, including intrinsic, extrinsic and temporal calibration.
  • Design scalable systems to manage and process large sensor datasets for calibration.
  • Implement and optimize algorithms in C++ and Python with clean, maintainable code.
  • Explore and integrate emerging calibration tools and technologies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project documentation requirements.
