Job summary

Fort Madison Community School District is seeking a High School Robotics Advisor to organize, supervise, and support the school robotics program. The advisor will promote student learning and engagement through robotics competitions, engineering design challenges, teamwork, and STEM activities, while fostering a safe, inclusive environment.

You will work with students during and after school, coordinate with the Activities Director and building principal, develop training components, schedule

Qualifications

  • Must have High School Diploma or GED.
  • Ability to identify issues and develop solutions.
  • Ability to work with students in groups and individually.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Proven experience in teaching and modeling character and responsible behavior.
  • Positive, high energy, and committed.
  • Support for education-based interscholastic activities/athletics.
  • Experience in computer programming and a firm understanding of technology preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership that promotes personal growth and equitable participation.
  • Develop training components for the activity focusing on a positive experience.
  • Monitor the work of members to ensure safety.
  • Develop communications with parents, faculty, administration, and the public.
  • Ensure student safety and appropriate conduct per district policies.
  • Set meeting schedules and work individually with students throughout the week.
  • Coordinate with the Activities Assistant to schedule transportation and rooms.
  • Set and submit the competition season schedule to the Activities Office.
  • Submit competition results to the Activities Director after each event.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Summary

The High School Robotics Advisor is responsible for organizing, supervising, and supporting the school robotics program.

The advisor promotes student learning and engagement through robotics competitions, engineering design challenges, teamwork, problem-solving, and STEM-related activities.

The advisor fosters a safe, positive, and inclusive environment while helping students develop technical, leadership, and collaboration skills.

Reports To

Activities Director, Building Principal

Essential Duties
  • Provide leadership that promotes personal growth, confidence, and in a manner that is equitable for all participants
  • Responsible for the development of the training components for the activity which will focus on a positive experience for all participants
  • Monitor the work of all members to ensure their safety
  • Develop communication procedures with parents, faculty, administration, and the public to share information regarding meeting times, projects and accomplishments of individuals and the group as appropriate
  • Ensure student safety and appropriate conduct during all activities per district policies.
  • Set the group's meeting schedule; will also work individually with students throughout the week (this may include meeting before, during and after the school day)
  • Work with the Activities Assistant to schedule transportation and room(s) as needed
  • Set the competition season schedule and submit that schedule to the Activities Office
  • Submit competition results to the Activities Director after each competition
  • Other duties as assigned

Terms Of Employment

Length of assignment and compensation determined by the district's extracurricular salary schedule.

Must meet all district requirements for extracurricular activity sponsors and advisors

Salary: Per Schedule

Physical Requirements: Bending, carrying, climbing, driving, lifting, pushing/pulling, reaching, sitting, standing, walking.
