Job summary

Jones Metal, Inc. is seeking a Robotic Welder for the 2nd shift to join our precision metal fabrication team in Minnesota.

You will program and operate robotic welders, read blueprints, perform MIG and TIG welds, and support engineering with part layouts.

Experience with robotic welding and a high standard for quality completes the role; competitive benefits and stable schedule. This is a hands-on position requiring strong attention to safety and accuracy.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Certificate or degree in welding preferred.
  • 1–2 years robotic welding experience.
  • 3+ years MIG and TIG welding experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret work instructions and blueprints.

Responsibilities

  • Selects, aligns, and secures fixtures, attachments, and materials on robotic welder as required.
  • Fits and assembles parts into complete assembly, using jigs, fixtures, surface table and hand tools.
  • Develops robotic path and motion to maximize efficiency, safety, and quality.
  • Operates welding robot on trial runs to verify accuracy of machine settings and programmed control data.
  • Performs basic MIG and TIG welding techniques as needed.
  • Assist engineering in the design and configuration of parts to utilize the robotic welder.
  • Reads job specifications to determine type of welding and material requirements.
  • Examines finished work pieces to verify conformance with specifications using gauges.
  • Performs prescribed preventative maintenance on equipment and machines.

ROBOTIC WELDER – 2ND SHIFT

Mon-Thurs 4:25pm - 2:55am

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, attachments, accessories, and materials on robotic welder as required
  2. Fits and assembles parts into complete assembly, using jigs, fixtures, surface table and hand tools.
  3. Develops robotic path and motion to maximize efficiency, safety, and quality.
  4. Operates welding robot on trial runs to verify accuracy of machine settings and programmed control data.
  5. Performs basic MIG and TIG welding techniques as needed.
  6. Assist engineering in the design and configuration of parts to utilize the robotic welder.
  7. Reads job specifications (e.g. blueprints, quality control plans and/or traveler notes) to determine type of welding and material requirements.
  8. Examines finished work pieces to verify conformance with specifications according to operator inspection sheet, quality control plans and/or traveler notes using instruments such as gauges.
  9. Performs prescribed preventative maintenance on equipment and machines.
Requirements
  • Experienced welder.
  • Skilled blueprint reader.
  • Ability to use tools ranging from common hand and power tools including grinders and cut off wheels to measuring instruments such as a tape measure and gauges.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as work instructions, safety rules, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively manage time and meet all specified deadlines.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
  • High School degree, diploma or a general education degree (GED);
  • Certificate or degree in welding;
  • 1 – 2 years robotic welding experience;
  • 3 plus years of MIG and TIG welding experience;
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
