Job summary

Albany Medical Center’s Orthopedic and Robotic Surgical Services team seeks a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join a busy perioperative service. Work with surgeons using DaVinci Xi, dv5, and Mako robotics, with mentoring across specialties on a progressive surgical team.

The role offers weekday daytime hours, possible four 10-hour shifts or five 8-hour shifts, with weekend opportunities. Located at 43 New Scotland Ave Albany NY, with some work at the South Clinical Campus.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant degree program.
• Master's Degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program and completion of RNFA training.
• Must be licensed and actively registered as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner in New York State.
• Able to quickly master all aspects of a computerized medical recordkeeping system.
• ACLS/BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive perioperative care for surgical patients.
• Assist surgeons during a wide range of surgical procedures including robotic assist.
• Perform first- and second-assist duties in the operating room.
• Collaborate with perioperative nursing staff and surgical teams to ensure safe, efficient patient care.
• Participate in a collaborative learning environment with mentorship across specialties.
• Maintain proficiency in evolving surgical techniques and perioperative practices.
• Document encounters, operative notes, and findings accurately.
• Participate in quality improvement and patient safety programs.
• Support teamwork, learning, and excellence in a fast-paced surgical setting.
