Job summary

Precision Castparts in Portland, OR seeks a Robotic Operator to manage cell operation, safety, and preventative maintenance. You will load/unload parts, start programs, inspect parts, and monitor TCP processes.

Candidates should read technique cards, perform basic troubleshooting, and communicate with supervisors. Prior robotic experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure system safety and keep the cell in a safe working order.
  • Operate robotic cell: load/unload parts, start programs, inspect parts, and monitor TCP programs.
  • Perform intermediate troubleshooting and recover from faults.
  • Complete assigned preventative maintenance and provide feedback to supervisors.
  • Keep work area clean and maintain tool boards; log activities and events.

MISSION
The Robotic Operator will be responsible for system operation and upkeep. This includes but is not limited to:

  • Communicate with operators, supervisors, maintenance, and technical staff
MISSION

  • Area Cleanliness
  • Communicate with operators, supervisors, maintenance, and technical staff
Principal Accountabilities
  • 1. System Safety
  • 1.1. Objective:
  • The Robotic Operator will understand all system safety requirements and be responsible for keeping the cell in a safe working order. If an issue arises, the Robotic Operator will shut the system down and work with the supervisor, maintenance, and technical staff to resolve the issue.
  • 1.2. Essential Job Functions:
  • Understand and follow:
  • Lock-Out/Tag-Out Procedures
  • Confined Space Procedures
  • General Plant and Department Safety Procedures
  • Suggest safety system improvements to supervisor and technical staff.
  • Identify and report safety problems to supervisor and technical staff. Including but not limited to:
  • System Operation
  • Preventative Maintenance Tasks
  • Equipment
  • Work Area
  • 2. System Operation
  • 2.1. Objective:
  • Robotic Operator will be responsible for system operation.
  • 2.2. Essential Job Functions:
  • Basic System Operation
  • Load/Unload Part
  • Replace Consumables
  • Scan Part/Lot and Operation Sequence
  • Start Program
  • Part Inspection
  • Run Tool Center Point (TCP) Program
  • Basic understanding of total system function
  • Ability to trace issue to major peripheral system
  • Monitor production process based on defined criteria in Technique Card(s).
  • 3. Basic Troubleshooting
  • 3.1. Objective:
  • Will be capable of performing intermediate troubleshooting in order to maximize cell uptime.
  • 3.2. Essential Job Functions:
  • Determine sub-system that is causing system failure.
  • Intermediate Robot Troubleshooting:
  • Jog Robot
  • HOME Robot
  • Identify and Recover Robot Faults
  • Uses alarm screen and HMI
  • Intermediate Vision System Troubleshooting:
  • Identify and Recover System Failure
  • Intermediate Process Troubleshooting:
  • Identify conditions that caused process failure
  • 4. Preventative Maintenance
  • 4.1. Objective:
  • Robotic Operator will be responsible for ensuring all assigned preventative maintenance tasks are performed in order to maximize cell uptime.
  • 4.2. Essential Job Functions:
  • Perform assigned preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Provide feedback to supervisor and technical staff.
  • 5. Area Cleanliness
  • Keep work area free of debris.
  • Verify tool boards are properly maintained.
  • Report any issues to supervisor or technical staff.
  • 6. Communication
  • Provide fault recovery feedback to operators.
  • Communicate with supervisor or technical staff on suggestions to improve system performance or solve system issues.
  • Assist maintenance staff with system operation when necessary.
  • 7. Complete logs and records.

Qualifications
  • Prior robotic experience strongly preferred but not required.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Ability to read and interpret Technique Cards, routings, and other special instructions.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to resolve problems and share information with others.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Physical ability to perform the essential job functions including lifting or maneuvering objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in difficult working conditions, which may include exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, and other elements for extended periods of time.
