Job summary

Miller Industries in Hermitage, PA, is seeking a Robotic Automation Technician to maintain automation systems and minimize downtime across production. You’ll support robotic maintenance, assist with commissioning, and collaborate with engineers to improve equipment performance.

Required: 3–5 years in automation or robotics, high school diploma or GED, and strong robotics/mechanical background. Travel for training and ongoing professional development are expected.

• Robotic experience and metal manufacturing experience.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot robotic systems including microprocessors, PLCs, electronics, hydraulics and pneumatics.
• Disassemble/reassemble robots or peripherals for repairs.
• Assemble automation equipment/components as required.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on robotic systems.
• Maintain accurate service records for robotic equipment.
• Assist integrators with building/commissioning automation equipment.
• Support engineers in design/configuration of robotic systems.
• Inspect installation sites for compliance, readiness.
• Fabricate jigs/fixtures using metalworking tools.
• Participate in production planning and team meetings.
• Travel for specialized training sessions.

Summary

The Robotic Automation Technician is responsible for maintaining and supporting all aspects of automation systems within the facility. This role ensures a robust preventative maintenance program is implemented and adhered to, minimizing downtime and optimizing equipment performance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot robotic systems using knowledge of microprocessors, programmable controllers, electronics, circuit analysis, mechanics, sensor/feedback systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics to identify and resolve operational issues.
• Disassemble and reassemble robots or peripheral equipment for repairs, including replacement of circuit boards, sensors, controllers, encoders, and servomotors.
• Assemble automation equipment or components as required.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on robotic systems and related components.
• Maintain accurate service records for robotic equipment and automated production systems.
• Assist integrators with building, commissioning, or decommissioning automation equipment.
• Support engineers in the design, configuration, and application of robotic systems.
• Inspect installation sites for compliance and readiness.
• Maintain inventory of critical production supplies such as parts, sensors, and cables.
• Fabricate jigs or fixtures using metalworking equipment (e.g., welding, plasma cutting, grinding).
• Participate in production planning and team meetings to support future capacity development.
• Stay informed on product and process changes; update maintenance procedures and schedules accordingly to ensure minimal downtime.
• Repair and service various fabrication equipment, including robotic plasma systems, press brakes, and plasma tables.
• Fully utilize technology tools including PCs, software programs, and proprietary systems.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule and travel as needed for training or support.
• Other duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience:

Required:

• High School Diploma or GED
• 3–5 years of relevant experience in automation or robotics, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Robotic experience
• Metal manufacturing experience

Preferred:

• Associate degree in Engineering, Industrial Management, or related field (or 60 credit hours toward such a program)
• Relevant certifications in robotics or automation
• ABB robotic experience is preferred
• Robotic Welding experience is preferred.

Computer Skills:

Intermediate computer skills. Experience with LN or other comparable Enterprise (ERP) system desired.
