Intuitive Surgical, Inc. is seeking a Robotic Algorithms and Controls Engineer (Systems Analyst) to advance the daVinci robotic system. The role focuses on analyzing and improving robotic instrument motion, safety algorithms, and instrument development.

The successful candidate will work with clinical development, mechanical design, and manufacturing teams to ensure high fidelity motion and robust performance, with opportunities to influence multiple project areas.

Qualifications

• PhD or MS in robotics-related field.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in a related field preferred.
• Demonstrate intuitive understanding of mechanical phenomena with ability to do rigorous analysis.
• C/C++ and Matlab programming skills, as well as hardware, software, and mechanism integration skills.
• Knowledge of Python is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and own the tele-operated motion performance of robotic surgical instruments, ensuring motion fidelity.
• Implement features and algorithms to support new instruments and extensions.
• Perform risk analysis and implement safety algorithms with documentation for regulatory approvals (FDA).
• Collaborate with manufacturing to develop automated fixtures and define test specs for instrument performance.
• Lead across disciplines and own issues crossing boundaries to ensure project success.
