Job summary

Sigma Design Inc. is seeking a Robot Technician to operate and test robotic systems on-site, using VR headsets and other control devices. The role focuses on tight integration between hardware and software, with emphasis on safety and precision during teleoperation.

The candidate will develop SOPs, assist with equipment setup and maintenance, and collaborate with engineers to ensure high-quality demonstrations and deployments. Strong English communication and team collaboration are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training in robotics, automation, or related field preferred.
• Minimum of 2 yrs of experience operating machines or systems requiring hand-eye coordination (e.g., robotics, gaming, mechanical systems).
• Proficiency in Linux required for running basic scripts, diagnostics, or system controls.
• Experience with control interfaces such as VR headsets, joysticks, or haptic devices preferred.
• Ability to create or refine procedural documentation and ensure compliance among team members.
• Basic understanding of robotic motion or kinematics is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and patience for precision tasks.
• Excellent teamwork and English communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate robotic systems on-site using teleoperation tools (VR headsets, joysticks, custom HMI devices).
• Develop, document, and refine SOPs for teleoperation processes and testing workflows.
• Serve as Robot Safety Officer to ensure safe operation and access control in the workspace.
• Ensure adherence to established processes and safety protocols; correct deviations as needed.
• Follow structured procedures to carry out robotic tasks and test scenarios accurately.
• Collaborate with engineers and data specialists during operation sessions.
• Provide feedback on system performance, control responsiveness, and UI improvements.
• Assist with equipment setup, shutdown, and routine maintenance or checks.
• Follow Business Technology policies to protect sensitive data and reduce incidents.
