Maxwell Bond is seeking a robotics software engineer to contribute to autonomous platforms used in live industrial environments. You will work with experienced engineers on developing capabilities, improving performance and ensuring reliable operation on real hardware.
You will develop with C++ and Python, test navigation and perception, and deploy software across fleets, with hands-on access to hardware, sensors and embedded systems. Experience with ROS 2 is valued.
Work on software that controls real autonomous robots operating in live industrial environments. This is an opportunity to develop your robotics engineering skills beyond simulation, solve practical challenges and see your code making a tangible difference in day-to-day operations.
Early responsibility, with the opportunity to take ownership of features from initial development through to deployment.
Direct mentorship from experienced engineers, with regular code reviews and support to accelerate your development.
Hands-on access to robotic hardware, sensors, embedded computing and autonomous systems.
Exposure to a broad range of robotics technologies, from navigation and perception to remote operation and systems integration.
You'll contribute to the development and deployment of software for autonomous robotic platforms used in industrial environments. Working alongside experienced engineers, you'll develop new capabilities, improve system performance and help ensure reliable operation in real-world conditions.
Responsibilities will include:
Developing and maintaining robotics software using C++ and Python, contributing to navigation, mapping, localisation, perception and autonomous behaviours.
Testing and improving robot navigation and obstacle avoidance in dynamic environments where safe, reliable operation is essential.
Building tools that enable remote monitoring, operator assistance and recovery when robots encounter unexpected situations.
Integrating robotic systems with external operational software and task-management platforms.
Packaging and deploying software across robotic fleets, while supporting commissioning, troubleshooting and testing at customer sites.
Taking features from initial development through to validation on physical hardware, using feedback from real-world deployments to improve performance.
Around 0–2 years of relevant experience, including internships, research projects, personal builds or robotics competitions, with a degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
Working knowledge of C++ and Python, confidence using Linux-based development environments and familiarity with Git.
Practical exposure to robotics middleware, ideally ROS 2, alongside an interest in areas such as autonomous navigation, computer vision, motion planning or sensor integration.
A genuine interest in the interaction between software and physical hardware, with experience using sensors, motors or embedded computing platforms. Exposure to deploying robots, containerisation tools or industrial software integrations would be advantageous.
