Job summary

Mississippi Power in Gulfport, MS, is seeking a Distribution Lineman for the Coast Division roving crew. The role covers overhead distribution construction, storm hardening, reconductors, and system restoration across the division, with overnight travel possible.

The Lineman will work from pole-lines and equipment, climb structures, and perform maintenance, repair, and installations safely. Travel up to 65 miles one-way from the Coast Service Center may be required.

Responsibilities

• Builds, maintains, inspects, trouble-shoots, replaces, and repairs distribution power lines, poles, and related equipment according to Company specifications and manufacturer's recommendations.
• Reviews work orders and determines material needed; safely loads wire coils, poles, equipment, and materials onto trucks.
• Uses hand tools to assemble materials, connectors, brackets, and other equipment in preparation for installation on pole-lines or underground systems.
• Frequently works aerially from a ladder, lift bucket, and pole-climbing tools to remove/replace/repair equipment; must climb utility poles and structures.
• Maintains regular attendance and complies with all safety procedures, practices, and requirements.
• Communicates effectively in person, by radio, and by phone to various company personnel.
