Job summary

BGE, Inc. is seeking a Roadway/Transportation Engineer (EIT) to perform highway planning and design, with emphasis on geometry, modeling, and plan deliverables.

The role requires an FE exam pass and 1–4 years’ civil engineering experience in transportation projects, plus familiarity with DOT standards and PS&E. You will contribute to projects nationwide, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and advance your professional development through mentorship programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• Must have passed the FE Exam; EIT/EI preferred.
• 1–4 years of civil engineering experience in transportation/roadway design.
• Experience with State DOT and local standards is preferred.
• Knowledge of PS&E Processes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with MicroStation and OpenRoads 3D Modeling.

Roadway/Transportation Engineer (EIT)

Responsibilities

• Performs engineering associated with highway/roadway planning and design including horizontal and vertical geometry, Microstation and/or OpenRoads 3D modeling, retaining wall layouts, quantity calculations, miscellaneous details, and final plan deliverables.
• Interprets and applies applicable codes and exercises judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria.
• Plans, schedules, conducts and coordinates engineering work involving conventional practices but may include a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
• Must have passed the FE Exam; registered Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Engineering Intern (EI) is preferred.
• 1-4 years of experience as a civil engineer in Transportation/Roadway Design projects
• Experience with relevant State DOT and local county/municipality standards is preferred.
• Knowledge of PS&E Processes
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience with MicroStation and OpenRoads 3D Modeling software
