Job summary

Promark Telecon is seeking a Traffic Control Flagger to establish and maintain safe temporary traffic control zones for construction and roadway projects in the Tacoma, WA area.

The role requires outdoor work in varying weather, strong safety focus, and the ability to work nights and weekends as needed. Certification or ability to obtain certification is required, with travel up to 20%.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record required
• ATSSA Traffic Control Technician or Flagger Certification required (or ability to obtain upon hire)
• Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time
• One year of prior traffic control/flagging/roadway experience preferred
• Ability to read and interpret traffic control plans is a plus
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to remain alert and make quick safety-focused decisions in high-traffic environments

Responsibilities

• Set up, maintain, and remove temporary traffic control devices including cones, barricades, signs, barrels, arrow boards, and delineators
• Direct vehicle and pedestrian traffic using stop/slow paddles, hand signals, and radio communication
• Perform lane closures and traffic shifts in accordance with approved traffic control plans and safety regulations
• Monitor work zones to ensure devices remain correctly positioned and effective
• Communicate with crew, supervisors, contractors, and the public regarding traffic flow and safety
• Assist with loading, unloading, transporting, and organizing traffic control equipment
• Operate company vehicles and safely transport equipment to job sites
• Identify and report unsafe conditions or non-compliant motorists
• Maintain focus on public safety and ensure compliance with regulations
• Perform maintenance and inspection of traffic control equipment
• Complete daily logs and safety documentation
• Support general labor duties on project sites
• Work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, overtime, and emergencies
