Job summary

The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) seeks a Construction & Field Survey Specialist I to join the Buffalo, Wyoming team. This full-time role supports preliminary designs and construction of highway projects under limited supervision, ensuring safe, high-quality transportation for Wyoming communities.

You will perform surveys, testing, inspections, document pay quantities, and coordinate with contractors and utilities.

Qualifications

• 2-4 years of progressive work experience in roadway construction methods, contract administration, survey experience, and material testing.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and related certifications (Defensive Driving, AASHTO, QC/QA).
• Familiarity with surveying methods, design review, and documentation of project records.

Responsibilities

• Perform surveys, testing, and inspections on highway projects.
• Oversee minor to complex construction work and ensure quality control.
• Document pay quantities and prepare final contract documents.
• Coordinate with contractors, engineers, and landowners as needed.
• Prepare and update project reports and district files.
