Job summary

ATCS is seeking a Senior Roadway Engineer or Roadway Engineering Subject Matter Expert to join our team in a hybrid role with three days per week onsite at our Herndon office. This position focuses on complex interstate and urban arterial design within the Virginia market, including P3 delivery projects.

The role encompasses project design, task management, client contact, and QA/QC, with coordination among contractors and government agencies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
• 15+ years of roadway design experience, VA preferred.
• VA PE license preferred or willingness to obtain VA PE within 6 months of starting employment.
• Familiarity with AASHTO, VDOT and regional design standards and policies.
• Familiarity with P3 project delivery and alternative project delivery projects.

Responsibilities

• Perform roadway design tasks and manage project design work.
• Develop roadway contract documents for all project delivery models with emphasis on P3 projects.
• Prepare reports and studies and participate in public meetings.
• Direct others in roadway designs in accordance with AASHTO, VDOT and local standards; review designs by others.
• Coordinate with contractors, concessionaires, utility companies and government agencies.
