Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Direct designs per AASHTO, VDOT, and local standards; review others’ designs.

Job description

ATCS is seeking an energetic, highly motivated, detail-oriented, self-starter to join our team as a Senior Roadway Engineer or Roadway Engineering Subject Matter Expert. This is a hybrid role with three days per week required onsite in our Herndon ATCS office. This is an exciting opportunity to apply your design experience to some of the largest, most complex projects in Virginia.

This individual will perform a variety of engineering tasks relative to VDOT and various roadway design projects, with a focus on complex, interstate and urban arterial design within the alternative project delivery program. The diversity of responsibilities requires a flexible mindset and cooperative team-oriented attitude with progressively increasing design and management capabilities.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Daily responsibilities may include project design, task management, client contact, and quality control.
• Development of roadway contract documents for all project delivery models, with a focus on advising clients on P3 delivery projects
• Preparing reports and studies
• Preparing for, attending, and participating in public meetings
• Directing others in performing designs for various roadway infrastructure projects based on AASHTO, VDOT and local municipality requirements; reviewing and managing designs prepared by others
• Coordinating with contractors, concessionaires, utility companies and government agencies

Basis Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering
• Minimum of 15 years of experience in roadway design – preferably in Virginia, with a strong preference for 20+ years of experience.
• Professional Engineer’s license in VA is preferred, will consider other states with the commitment of obtaining a Virginia PE within 6 months of starting employment
• MicroStation ORD experience; AutoCAD Civil 3D experience a plus
• Familiarity with AASHTO, VDOT and regional design standards, practices and policies
• Familiarity with P3 project delivery and alternative project delivery projects

Our employees are the most critical part of ATCS. For this position, we offer a competitive salary range of $160,000 to $240,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The role is also eligible for an annual bonus, with a target 5% of the employee's annualized salary.
