Job summary

City of Tacoma is seeking a Traffic Sign and Marking Specialist to form an Eligible List for filling vacancies for up to one year. The role involves fabricating, installing, maintaining and removing signs, markings and related devices across the city’s streets.

Ideal candidates will have a High School diploma or GED and relevant roadway signage experience or equivalent combination of education and training.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate, maintain, install and repair traffic signs, sign components and signposts.
• Set up and remove temporary and emergency traffic control devices for parades, road closures, events and emergencies.
• Install and maintain roadway paint striping, curb markings, pavement markers and guideposts.
• Receive, investigate and resolve reports of damaged or missing signs.
• Document work and inventory as per standards and orders.
