Job summary

Washington County, MN is seeking a Maintenance Worker to support Public Works with skilled maintenance across highway, parks, and traffic infrastructure. The role involves sign fabrication, CAD-driven sign design, pavement markings, and heavy equipment operation.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma and three years of related maintenance experience, plus a Class B CDL with Air Brake; within six months, a Class A CDL with 5th wheel and tanker endorsements are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and three-years of full-time work experience in highway/road or parks maintenance that included motorized equipment operation.
• Must possess a current and valid Class B CDL with Air Brake designation. Within six months, obtain Class A CDL with 5th wheel Tractor-Trailer, Manual Transmission and Tanker Vehicle endorsements.

Responsibilities

• Perform snow and ice control to county standards, including plowing and applying de-icing materials.
• Operate heavy equipment and vehicles safely and efficiently.
• Document time and materials spent on projects; track work orders.
• Provide direction to temporary staff and maintain sign/inventory records.
• Repair and maintain equipment and facilities; perform carpentry, plumbing, electrical tasks.
• Contribute to park and highway maintenance tasks as required.
