Roadway Engineer Project Manager Responsibilities
- Design transportation projects including horizontal/vertical alignment, drainage, ditch profiles, guardrail calculations, and superelevation diagrams.
- Manage roadway projects by coordinating directly with clients, prime consultants, and sub-consultants.
- Perform design analysis and manage engineering staff during project execution.
- Supervise, design, and prepare plans for small structure developments.
- Review and assist in preparing computer-aided design (CAD) production drawings using standard civil design software.
- Oversee technical staff developing detailed construction plans from engineering calculations.
- Supervise or perform precise quantity calculations and project cost estimations.
- Design and prepare comprehensive erosion control and environmental plans.
- Oversee traffic engineering designs, including signals, intersections, lighting, and signing layout.
- Develop detailed maintenance of traffic (MOT) and construction sequencing plans.
- Represent the firm at field checks, public hearings, and pre-construction meetings.
Roadway Engineer Project Manager Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE).
- Professional Engineer (PE) License in good standing.
- 5 to 7 years of dedicated experience in roadway and highway design.
- Proven experience preparing comprehensive design plans for departments of transportation.
- Proficiency with industry-standard CAD and 3D modeling design platforms.
- Strong technical writing abilities and clear verbal communication skills.
- Valid driver's license for site visits and client meetings.
- Exceptional organization, time management, and attention to detail.
- Prior project management or task lead experience is beneficial but not required.
