Job summary

HMB Professional Engineers, LLC in Frankfort, KY is seeking a Roadway Design Project Manager to lead and mentor a design team on signature roadway projects. The role offers hybrid work options and the chance to drive design quality while guiding junior staff through complex tasks.

The position is based in Frankfort with opportunities to work in Lexington and Louisville. Candidates should have 6+ years in roadway design, strong leadership, and proficiency with OpenRoads Designer; PE certification

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in roadway design.
• Experience in people management or supervision.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Leading and mentorship of junior staff while managing the completion of multiple roadway design tasks.
• Coordination with Project Managers to meet schedule and budget requirements.
• Opportunity to be mentored and ultimately take on responsibilities as a Project Manager.
• Preparation of accurate presentation, design, details and construction documents.
• Preparation of permit applications and submittal packages to Agencies having jurisdiction.
• Coordination with clients, subconsultants, permitting agencies, utility providers, contractors and other parties associated with the project.
• Development and adherence to project scope, schedules, and budgets.

Key Responsibilities

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• A minimum of 6 years experience in all technical aspects of roadway design
• Experience in people management or supervision
• Experience with OpenRoads Designer preferred
• PE Certification is preferred
• Detail-oriented individual with strong technical and organizational skills
• Proficiency in spreadsheets, word processing and standard industry software.
• Works well in multidisciplinary team environments and ability to meet deadlines.
• Strong oral presentation and written communication skills
