Transportation Project Manager– California

Position Overview:

We are seeking a Transportation Project Manager with a strong background in transportation engineering, team leadership, and business development to support ongoing growth across California. This position focuses on delivering high-quality transportation projects for public and private clients, primarily serving cities and Caltrans.

The ideal candidate will bring 12+ years of experience in transportation engineering, roadway/highway design, and project management, and have existing relationships with local cities or Caltrans that can be leveraged to win more work. This is a leadership-track opportunity with involvement in strategic planning, operations, business development, and team development. All employees are eligible to participate in a stakeholder program, promoting ownership and long-term engagement within the company.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the delivery and management of transportation projects in California.
• Develop and implement short- and long-term strategic growth plans in coordination with senior leadership.
• Manage project budgets, work plans, staffing, and schedules to ensure profitable, on-time delivery.
• Supervise and mentor project managers and engineering staff.
• Oversee the quality and consistency of work products, including design standards, reports, and specifications.
• Provide technical expertise in support of proposals, interviews, and business development initiatives.
• Represent the firm and clients in meetings with governmental agencies and stakeholder groups.

Required Qualifications:

• Professional Civil Engineer (PE) license in California.
• 12+ years of progressive experience in transportation design, project management, and business development.
• Proven ability to lead and grow a transportation team, including mentoring and talent development.
• Experience with transportation consulting, marketing strategies, and pursuit execution.
• Strong understanding of operations, project delivery, and technical excellence.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
