Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Department of Transportation seeks a Roadway Programs Coordinator to keep county maintenance plans organized, efficient, and ready for action. You will support safe travel for residents and develop leadership skills through teamwork.

The role covers program coordination, budget management, material planning, and staff supervision to ensure operations run smoothly. Telework is not available and the schedule is 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday.

Qualifications

  • One year of experience as a Roadway Programs Specialist or Roadway Programs Technician Supervisor or equivalent.
  • Three years of experience in analysis, development, and implementation of methods and techniques used in a roadway maintenance management system; and an associate's degree in a field of business administration, computer science, highway engineering technology or closely related program; or
  • One year of experience in the analysis, development, and implementation of methods and techniques used in a roadway maintenance management system; and a bachelor's degree in business administration, computer science, mathematics, statistics, or civil engineering related discipline;
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

  • Coordinate roadway maintenance programs and assist in developing the Annual Work Plan
  • Budget management: prepare reviews, and recommend budget adjustments to support operations
  • Material planning: determine material needs, monitor inventories, and oversee ordering of essential maintenance supplies
  • Work review: review schedules, reports, and planning documents to adjust work plans based on conditions and priorities
  • Safety oversight: ensure proper work zone setups and support safe work environments through monitoring and guidance
  • Staff supervision: manage workload distribution and direction of staff, training, evaluations, and concerns

This position oversees a wide range of administrative and technical activities that support roadway maintenance and county operations. It ensures planning, budgeting, materials management, and program oversight work together to keep operations efficient. As a Roadway Programs Coordinator, you will perform the following duties:

  • Program Coordination: Coordinate roadway maintenance programs and assist in developing the Annual Work Plan
  • Budget Management: Manage county budgets, prepare reviews, and recommend budget adjustments to support operations
  • Material Planning: Determine material needs, monitor inventories, and oversee ordering of essential maintenance supplies
  • Work Review: Review schedules, reports, and planning documents to adjust work plans based on conditions and priorities
  • Safety Oversight: Ensure proper work zone setups and support safe work environments through monitoring and guidance

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework:You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • One year of experience as a Roadway Programs Specialist or Roadway Programs Technician Supervisor (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Three years of experience in the analysis, development, and implementation of methods and techniques used in a roadway maintenance management system; and an associate's degree in a field of business administration, computer science, highway engineering technology or closely related program; or
  • One year of experience in the analysis, development, and implementation of methods and techniques used in a roadway maintenance management system; and a bachelor's degree in business administration, computer science, mathematics, statistics, or civil engineering related discipline;or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
