Job summary

Montana Department of Transportation is hiring a Highway Maintenance Technician - CDL Driver / Equipment Operator in Whitehall. The role performs laborer, lead worker, equipment operator, and truck driver duties for highway maintenance, including culvert work, landslide removal, sealing, fence/bridge tasks, guardrail, luminaire maintenance, and snow/ice control.

Experience with heavy trucks or construction equipment is required.

Qualifications

• One (1) year experience driving heavy trucks or operating construction equipment.
• Valid Montana Commercial Driver's License (Class A, Type II) with tank endorsement and MEC.
• Applicants with a learner's permit have 30 days to obtain the CDL.

Responsibilities

• Operate trucks and heavy equipment for highway maintenance tasks (culvert placement, landslide removal, crack sealing, fence building, bridge repair, guardrails, luminaire maintenance).
• Perform road maintenance, vegetation and roadside upkeep, pavement marking and striping, and snow/ice control.
