Job summary

State of Iowa - Executive Branch seeks a Highway Technician Associate in Perry to perform roadside maintenance, patching roadways, repairing guardrails, signs, lighting, and culverts, and mowing. The role includes on-call duties and occasional overnight travel.

Qualifications

• CDL permit upon hire.
• Class A with endorsements within 5 months.
• Successful U.S. DOT Clearinghouse check.
• Pre-employment physical and ongoing drug/alcohol testing.
• May be required to obtain pesticide/herbicide certifications.
• Graduation from high school or GED; four years education/experience in highway maintenance or equipment operation.

Responsibilities

• Patching roadway
• Repairing and maintaining guardrails, signs, fences, lighting, culverts, and waterways
• Participating in traffic control for maintenance activities
• Picking up and disposing of litter and debris
• Operating snow equipment to remove snow, ice and frost from roadways
• Mowing, cutting brush, weed and vegetation control and spraying
