Job summary

Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) seeks a Highway Maintenance Technician in Seeley to perform labor, lead, and equipment operator duties for highway maintenance. The role includes operating trucks and heavy equipment for culverts, landslide removal, sealing, fence and bridge work, and snow/ice control, with a career ladder for advancement.

Qualified applicants must hold a Montana CDL Class A with tank endorsement and MEC.

Qualifications

• Requires a valid Montana Commercial Operators License (Class A, Type II) with no restrictions, a tank endorsement and MEC.
• Applicants with a learner’s permit have 30 days to obtain the license.

Responsibilities

• Operate trucks and heavy equipment for highway maintenance.
• Perform culvert placement/cleaning and landslide removal.
• Conduct crack/mastic sealing, fence building, or bridge repair, and guardrail or sign installation.
• Provide roadway and vegetation maintenance and snow/ice control.
• Support as laborer, lead worker, and equipment operator with career ladder opportunities.
