TxDOT's Fort Worth District is seeking to fill a Roadway Maintenance Tech II or III position based in Fort Worth, TX. All necessary training, tools, and uniforms will be provided. Salary Range:

  • General Transportation Tech II, A17: $42,976 - $64,469 per year
  • General Transportation Tech III, A18: $45,521 - $71,055 per year

This posting is for one position, which may be filled at Tech II or Tech III level depending on qualifications and business needs. The final level will be determined based on the applicant's experience, education, skills, and other relevant factors.

Job Responsibilities include:

  • Routine transportation operations and maintenance, including roadway repair, equipment operation, traffic control, and emergency assistance.
  • Following standard practices with minimal supervision.

Specific duties for Tech II include:

  • Installing and repairing signs, performing welding, assisting law enforcement at accident sites, traffic control, debris removal, operating various equipment, performing preventive maintenance, and emergency response tasks.

Additional duties for Tech III include:

  • Leading work crews, supporting law enforcement, maintaining highways, operating advanced heavy equipment, landscaping, and emergency response.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • GTT II: 1 year of relevant experience; GTT III: 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in transportation support, roadway maintenance, construction inspection, or heavy equipment operation.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Valid driver’s license; Commercial Class "A" Driver's License with "N" endorsement required.

Competencies include knowledge of highway construction and maintenance, traffic control standards, vehicle mechanics, safety procedures, and ability to operate various equipment. Additional requirements include physical fitness, drug testing, emergency responsiveness, and safety compliance.
