Texas Department of Transportation seeks Transportation Maintenance Tech I, II, or III for the Balmorhea Maintenance Office in Balmorhea, Texas. The role involves road maintenance, heavy and light equipment operation, and emergency response support.

Minimum qualifications include experience levels for I/II/III and CDL requirements. Day shift, onsite location with state benefits and training opportunities available.

Qualifications

• TMT I = No experience required
• TMT II = 1 year experience
• TMT III = 2 years experience
• Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent
• Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications may apply for education/experience.
• A valid driver’s license is required at the time of application; candidate must be able to drive a state vehicle.
• Commercial Class A CDL with N endorsement required within 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Operate light equipment such as loaders, rollers, and sweepers
• Operate heavy equipment including large loaders, trucks, and bulldozers
• Perform PMI and basic maintenance on equipment; complete reports
• Assist with traffic control, site safety, and public help during emergencies
• Identify and repair signs, delineators, and related traffic devices
• Communicate effectively with local law enforcement and the public
