Job summary

The State of Ohio is seeking a Permanent Highway Maintenance Worker 1 (HMW1) or Highway Technician 1 (HT1) in Defiance County. The position is full-time with CDL requirements, located at District 2 Garage, Defiance, OH.

Compensation ranges from $21.48 to $22.29 per hour, with OCSEA union oversight. Selected candidates will have CDL with tanker endorsement, and may be placed in HMW1 or HT1 classification based on qualifications.

Qualifications

• Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction & reading, writing & speaking common English vocabulary.
• Must obtain Class B Commercial Driver's License with tanker endorsement without airbrake restriction.
• Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction & decimals, percentages & fractions; ability to read, write & speak common English vocabulary; 3 mos. trg. or 3 mos. exp. in operation of basic equipment.

Responsibilities

• You will serve the public and work to make the roads in Ohio safer.
• You will attend training to obtain CDL licensure; if not already a licensed CDL holder.
• You will perform highway maintenance activities; including flagging, pothole patching, repairing guardrails, litter pickup, mowing.
• You will perform snow & ice operations.
