Job summary

Town Of Glastonbury is seeking a Highway Maintenance Worker for Glastonbury Town Hall in Glastonbury, CT. This full-time, 40-hour-per-week role operates within the IUOE bargaining unit, with a starting rate akin to the established scale. The position focuses on road and drainage work and related facilities maintenance.

Under direction, you will operate heavy trucks, patch roads, install signs, and assist with resurfacing and pipe work. A strong safety mindset is essential.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of highway maintenance tools and safety procedures.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions and Town procedures.
• Ability to establish effective working relationships with coworkers.
• Drug and Alcohol testing required per FHWA regulations.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy trucks during winter storm events.
• Make routine highway maintenance decisions following procedures.
• Patch asphalt, repair barriers, and maintain roadways and drainage systems.
• Fabricate and install traffic signs and perform basic vehicle maintenance.
• Assist in pipe laying and road resurfacing operations.
• Respond to emergencies and stand-by calls as required.
