Job summary

The State of Connecticut, Department of Transportation District 1 is hiring a Transportation Maintenance Crew Leader (Highway Maintenance) to oversee highway crews across the District 1 area including Bolton and nearby towns. This full-time, first shift role involves planning workload, supervising daily operations, and ensuring safety and quality in maintenance and response tasks.

Qualified applicants must hold a CDL Class A or B with tank endorsement and a Valid MEC, and be willing to perform

Qualifications

• Two (2) years of skilled highway maintenance experience, at the level of Transportation Maintainer 2.
• Current CDL Class A or B with tank endorsement and a valid MEC.
• Willingness to accept emergency duties, including winter overtime Nov 1–Apr 30.
• Ability to lead highway maintenance crews and coordinate scheduling.

Responsibilities

• Plan crew workflow and priorities.
• Schedule, assign, oversee, and review work.
• Establish and maintain crew procedures.
• Provide staff training and assistance.
• Prepare reports and correspondence.
• Respond to emergencies and coordinate with other units.
