Job summary

The Oregon Department of Transportation's Jordan Valley maintenance crew seeks a Transportation Maintenance Specialist 2 to operate heavy and light equipment, maintain roadways, bridges and structures, and assist with weather-related emergencies and traffic control after storms, spills and incidents.

This on-site role includes housing on site, a path to contribute to Oregon's safe multimodal transportation system, and a competitive salary within the posted range.

Qualifications

• One year of experience performing basic highway maintenance work.
• Two years of general landscaping, maintenance, mechanical, farming, logging, and/or construction experience or training.
• A current, valid commercial driver's license A (CDL-A) with a tanker endorsement, or ability to obtain one within 60 days of hire and a CDL-A with a tanker endorsement within six months.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of heavy and light equipment to maintain and repair roadways, highways and structures.
• Assist with weather-related emergencies and traffic control after storms or incidents.
• Perform minor surface repairs, vegetation management, and keep drainage and roadside infrastructure in good condition.
• Move around rough terrain, bend and stoop, and may lift up to 60 pounds as part of daily tasks.
• Respond to after-hours emergencies and be available on weekends and holidays as needed.
