Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Transportation is seeking a maintenance worker to perform skilled manual labor and operate medium duty equipment for road preservation along the state highway system.

You will coordinate traffic control devices, assist in emergency operations, and may work extended hours or shifts including nights and weekends during hazardous weather or emergencies. A CDL may be required within six months of placement.

Qualifications

• Six months of related work experience or an approved acceptable equivalence.
• Valid motor vehicle operator’s license required on entry.
• Must attain Class A CDL within six months of placement.

Responsibilities

• Operate medium duty equipment such as roller, skid steer and tractor with mower.
• Coordinate placement of traffic control devices to set up maintenance work zones.
• Assist in emergency and inclement weather operations and extended hours as needed.
