Job summary

Columbus Consolidated Government is seeking a Grounds Maintenance Technician to maintain Right of Ways for the Urban Forestry & Beautification Division. Responsibilities include debris removal, sweeping gutters, brush cutting, and directing traffic around worksites during road repairs.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of grounds maintenance principles and landscaping.
• Knowledge of tools and equipment used in grounds maintenance.
• Knowledge of the safe operation of assigned equipment.
• Skill in problem-solving and decision-making.
• Skill in the operation of hand tools and other assigned equipment.
• Skill in oral and written communication.
• Ability to read, write, and perform basic mathematical calculations.
• Knowledge level typical of specialized training and apprenticeship/internship or 1–2 years in a similar role.

Responsibilities

• Maintain Right of Ways for the Urban Forestry & Beautification Division.
• Remove dirt and debris from roads and sweep gutters; shovel gravel, snow, dirt, sand; rake leaves; cut brush.
• Direct traffic around work sites during road repairs; plant seeds, fertilizers, and mulch.
• Load and unload trucks with materials and supplies.
• Maintain landscaping, mowing, planting, and seeding; deliver concessions, chemicals, and equipment.
• Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment; clean and service vehicles.
• Assist in cleaning and maintenance of fleet yard; remove trash from parks and buildings.
• Perform ongoing improvements to operations and customer-driven service.
