Job summary

The Missouri Department of Transportation is hiring a maintenance worker to perform routine duties maintaining state roadways and facilities under direct supervision. This CAREER-LADDER opening offers opportunities for advancement as skills and experience grow.

Tasks include patching potholes, directing traffic, installing signs, repairing signs and guardrails, operating vehicles, and occasional bridge or drainage work.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED/HiSET required.
• Valid driver's license required.
• CDL with tanker endorsement must be obtained within 60 days of hire.
• Successful completion of a work simulation and a medical-physical exam.

Responsibilities

• Maintain state highway systems, including filling joints and cracks, patching potholes, flagging traffic, and setting up signs and traffic control devices.
• Maintain, clean, and repair state highway facilities, including signs, guardrails, curbs, and painting.
• Operate vehicles to transport personnel and materials, plow snow, and spread ice control materials; use various trucks and equipment.
• May install signs, inspect signs, pour sign footings, weld/cut sign posts, and repair or maintain signs.
