Job summary

City of Baytown seeks an Equipment Specialist for Public Works to operate and maintain heavy equipment used in street and drainage projects. You will perform preventative maintenance, ensure safety compliance, and contribute to durable roadways and public infrastructure.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED, six months of related experience, and a valid Texas Class B CDL (or ability to obtain within six months). You must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.

Qualifications

Minimum six months related work experience in street maintenance or equipment operation.
Valid Texas Class B CDL or obtain within six months of hire.
Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record; must obtain TX license within 90 days.

Responsibilities

Operate and maintain heavy equipment such as street sweeper, patch truck, dump trucks, backhoe, loader and other tools for street maintenance and asphalt repairs.
Inspect and perform routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment; report mechanical issues.
Assist in traffic control as needed; follow safety policies and report hazards.
Conduct manual labor tasks related to streets, sidewalks, alleys, drainage and asphalt maintenance and repair.
Perform duties as assigned and support solid waste operations as required.
