Job summary

Anoka County is hiring an Equipment Operator at the Highway Department in Andover, MN. You will operate heavy equipment for year-round road maintenance, construction, and snow/ice control, reporting preventative maintenance and assisting with paving, curb work, and ditch maintenance.

The role requires a high school diploma and 2 years of related experience, plus a valid Minnesota CDL with air brake endorsement (tanker/air brake within 1 year). On-call duty is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent education.
• Two years of full-time paid job-related experience in operation of highway construction/maintenance equipment.
• Minnesota Class A or B CDL with air brake endorsement; within one year obtain Class A with tanker and air brake endorsements.
• Able to pass driver’s license background check.
• Willing to commit to a 24/7 on-call shift rotation.

Responsibilities

• Operate motorized and heavy equipment for road maintenance, construction, and snow/ice control.
• Report preventative maintenance on trucks and equipment.
• Plow, sand, snow removal, and set up traffic controls (manual/auto).
• Patch, crack fill, patching, tree trimming/removal, paving, ditch/sidewalk maintenance.
• Uphold safety standards during digging, inspection, and operations.
• Provide traffic control services and respond to weather emergencies.
