Job summary

Marion County Public Works is seeking a Medium Equipment Operator to join the Road & Bridge Operations Division. The role focuses on operating medium road maintenance equipment, installing signs/ markings, and supporting litter control and snow response.

Requirements include a CDL-A with tanker endorsement within six months of hire, a high school diploma, and the ability to pass background checks and a drug screen. Overtime and varied shifts may apply.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, or equivalent; AND two years of experience operating motorized road maintenance equipment and performing semi-skilled tasks.
• CDL-A with tanker endorsement required within six months of hire.
• Ability to pass a criminal history background check and pre-employment drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Operate medium road maintenance equipment according to standards.
• Install and maintain traffic signs, pavement markings and traffic control devices.
• Operate a computer sign plotter and maintain road appurtenances database.
• Support litter control, drainage, bridges, vegetation, and snow/ice response.
• Assist other crews and may lead a small team as needed.
