Job summary

Marion County Public Works is seeking a Road Operations Crew Leader to lead crews responsible for traffic safety features including sign and pavement markings, within the Road & Bridge Maintenance & Operations Division.

You will supervise daily tasks, coordinate equipment, assign projects, resolve citizen concerns, and maintain reports. A high school diploma and six years of road construction/maintenance experience are required; a CDL may be needed depending on assignment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Six years of responsible road construction or maintenance experience, including lead crew experience.
• Experience operating construction/maintenance equipment specific to the crew area.
• Any satisfactory combination of work, education, training, or experience as determined by Marion County.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily direction to assigned crews and set safety and project expectations.
• Oversee maintenance and improvements of signs and pavement markings within the right-of-way.
• Investigate and resolve citizen complaints related to crew areas; meet with citizens and discuss options.
• Identify field locations of county-owned or other underground utilities.
• Direct traffic around hazards and ensure safe work zones; take corrective action as needed.
• Operate equipment related to the assigned technical area.
• Assist with scheduling and preparation of crew, equipment, and materials; collaborate with divisions and external agencies.
• Maintain daily/weekly computerized work reports and inventory records.
• Provide training and performance recommendations; participate in meetings and trainings.
• Support emergency management duties as needed; may perform clerical/support tasks.
