Job summary

Lubbock County in Texas is seeking an Equipment Operator I to operate a range of light and heavy equipment for road maintenance, bridge and right-of-way tasks. Under supervision, you will handle trucks, loaders, dozers, and other machines to support paving, patching, debris removal, and signage projects across county roads.

You will perform traffic control, record daily activity, and ensure safety in accordance with the Texas MUTCD.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• At least 1 year of construction or road maintenance experience.
• Valid driver's license; CDL endorsement preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate light and heavy equipment under supervision.
• Perform traffic control and ensure safe work zones.
• Assist in road maintenance, patching, and sign installation.
• Maintain daily records of crew performance and equipment usage.
• Respond to emergency situations and perform repairs as needed.
